You know, burlap is being used for everything now - the possibilities on Pinterest are endless, weddings, bridal showers, baby showers, birthday parties! EVERYWHERE! So when some friends and I started planning for a table theme for a ladies' luncheon, we thought why not burlap? We're mixing it in with vintage pieces, lace, and a little bling just for good measure! :) Working at TMI Gifts, I got nominated for the job of decorating and flower arranging, etc. I immediately thought of some new bouquets we have in stock that would be great for corsages! 

I started out with Rose Bouquet in Green/Peach, 18" Twig Herb Bush, and the Sponge Mushroom Stem. I also used a silver acrylic button berry spray for the bling (see picture below).  I pulled the rose bouquet apart so that it would make six corsages, each with one rose. I also separated the twig herb bush into several pieces to work into the corsages.

I pulled the acrylic berry button spray apart and used three of the stems on each corsage. The individual stems are wired, so they were perfect to just wire in wherever needed.

I used our 4" Natural Jute Netting and brown sisal cord for my "burlap look." Also, I threw in a little bit of diamond cut 12 gauge wire. I really like working with the jute, it is soft enough to work well in a lot of different ways, but also holds it's shape well. I cut the jute up the middle so that it would curl and look more like strips of ribbon. The sisal cord is wired so you can curl, or twist, make a bow, whatever you would like with it and it holds it's shape as well.

 

 

 I grouped everything together, holding the stems tightly, and secured it by wrapping wire around the stems. Then, I wrapped floral tape around the stems to cover the wire and for a more finished look. There are so many possibilities for these corsages, I'm thinking Mother's Day for sure, and using the silk flowers it will always be something the recipient can keep!

Spring is really buzzing here at TMI Gifts.  Things have been busy, as we prepared for our spring sale and design show.  We appreciate everyone who made the trip to see us and hope you all enjoyed your visit.  We had our TMI design show on Sunday to kick off the sale.  Robin and I demonstrated several creations from peacocks to owls and put together tablescapes with some of our new products.  Throughout the week, we had guest designers demonstrating wreaths, centerpieces, corsages, and more!  A big thanks goes out to Jeremy Allison, Cindy Winders, Dan Walton, and Lorie Collum.  We appreciate you coming and sharing your ideas with us.  We will have videos from all of these demonstrations available on our website soon!  We also want to say a big thank you to Mrs. Carla for preparing such a wonderful Italian feast and I know that was enjoyed by all!  We appreciate all of the feedback you all gave us on our comment cards and would love to hear more from you on what you would like to see in our store and how we can serve you better. Tupelo Furniture Market

     TMI Gifts will be showing at the Tupelo Furniture Market February 28th – March 3rd, 2013.  This event is held at 1879 North Coley Road, Tupelo, MS 38801.

     Monday, February 18^th - Lorie Collum an artistic contract designer of TMI Gifts will be showing her imaginative ideas on different, unique and exciting ways to use garlands and wreaths.   Lorie will be showing from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and again at 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.

     Tuesday, February 19^th - Randy Emerson a talented designer and owner of  Hamilton Flowers located in Hamilton, Al will be designing creative center pieces and table arrangements.  Randy will be showing from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and again at 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.

     Wednesday, February 20^th – Cindy Winders a brilliant designer of Ruth’s Warehouse located in Aberdeen, Ms will be designing new and exciting ideas for wreaths.  Cindy will focus on Easter, Spring and Natural wreaths. Cindy will be showing from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and again at 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.

     Friday, February 22^nd – Jeremy Allison a gifted designer and owner of J. Edwards Designs located in Tupelo, Ms will be designing prom pieces such as, corsages, head pieces, and boutonnieres. Jeremy  will be showing from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and again at 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.

     Note: Everything that the designers use will be available to purchase at TMI Gifts!

     Robin Parrish and Brittany Burton are very creative and inspiring designers of TMI Gifts and  will be available all throughout the week to assist you throughout your visit at TMI Gifts. They also have designed several pieces for you to see and will be more than happy to explain how it was contrasted.  They have designed several event displays such as, Easter, Wedding receptions, Prom, and table pieces.

We will have door prizes ranging from home Décor to arrangements! And let’s not forget we always have lunch available for you! Italian food will be served all throughout the entire week.

 

Upcoming Events in February

The month of January was an eventful one for TMI Gifts.  We attended the AtlantaInternational Gift and Home Furnishing Market and the Biloxi Wholesale Giftsshow.  By attending these shows we learned a tremendous amount for the new year!! New ideas, designs and so much more!!  Don’t think we are slowing up yet! Our showroom is constantly getting new products in.  

 For the month of February we are getting ready for our dealer annual Spring Sale February 18^th -23^rd.  This year we plan to switch it up a little bit.  We hope to have designers here to demonstrate new ideas, show you how to use certain products, and most of all inspire you! There will be a large variety of products on sale ranging from Décor to Spring items.  This is a great opportunity to stock up on items for Spring and Summer at some great price points. Some items are even marked below half price! Be sure to take advantage of our Sale week. By making an appointment it allows a Sales person to accompany you and inform you on new and upcoming products.  Towards the end of the month we are setting up at the Tupelo Furniture Market February 28^th – March 3^rd.  We will be in Building 3, Booth 3263! Here we will be showing our new Spring line, new Designer Netting, and Décor. Be sure to come see all the newest and exciting merchandise we have available!
